Most people focus on what they drink. But dermal absorption and inhalation during bathing represent a significant and largely ignored exposure pathway — especially for young children and infants whose skin is thinner and surface area is proportionally larger relative to body weight.
Research published in the American Journal of Public Health found that up to 64% of total chlorine exposure occurs through skin absorption and inhalation during showering — not through drinking. Chlorine vaporizes in hot water, and a 10-minute shower in unfiltered water can expose you to more chlorine than drinking two liters of the same water.
For families with young children, this is not a theoretical concern. Children bathing in chlorinated, chloramine-treated water absorb these chemicals through their skin daily. PFAS, which do not evaporate, accumulate in the body over time through repeated dermal contact. The only solution is whole-house filtration — a point-of-use under-sink system does not protect your shower, your bath, or your children.

The Science Is in the Tank — Not the Enclosure
AION whole house systems are currently in pilot manufacturing. Early builds will be fully functional, engineered to your home's exact water profile, and built with the same media and filtration stages as our production systems — but they will not yet reflect the industrial design aesthetic shown in the images on this page.
What you are buying is the filtration. The tanks, housings, and plumbing will be professional-grade and properly installed — but the custom cabinetry, branded enclosures, and refined aesthetics are part of our production roadmap, not our pilot program.
Early adopters will receive a complimentary aesthetic upgrade — at no charge — when production-grade enclosures are available. We believe in being direct about where we are in the process. The water quality is not a pilot. The hardware is.
